Happy Halloween!
Halloween seems to be getting bigger every year here in the UK, so I thought I'd get involved for a change and discovered that pumpkin carving is much harder than it looks;

Plus a figurine I designed a few years ago - it's bones glow in the dark!;

A room with a view...
This is the opening shot of a five minute limited animation that I storyboarded and produced the assets for. The animation itself was handled by the talented fellows over at Gizmo Animation and features Tatty Teddy and his Blue Nose Friends enjoying a day out in the park.
Had fun with the lighting on this one, and it's always nice to work on some environments.
Here's the full short for your viewing pleasure;

First book cover!
My first book cover!
Featuring Tatty Teddy and his Blue Nose Friends, this was painted for the first 'My Blue Nose Friends' book (that also came with a mug featuring the same image). This was also the first time that these characters were rendered with more realistic lighting, marking a slight progression of the style that is still evolving today.

Tatty Teddy bedtime
Another puzzle image from early last year.
Again I went for the digital watercolour over pencil sketch but also experimented a bit with gradient maps, which are super useful once you get your head around them.
You can buy the 500 piece puzzle from here.

Tatty Teddy seaside scene
I thought it was about time I posted some of the work that I've done for Carte Blanche Greetings over the last four years. I'm not going to go back too far though, this piece was painted at the beginning of 2010 to be used on a jigsaw puzzle. The paint is actually digital over a pencil sketch, so I was pretty pleased that most people thought it was genuine watercolour.
I now work almost exclusively on My Blue Nose Friends so I don't get to draw the little grey bear very often.
This puzzle is still available to buy from Amazon.

Simon's Cat (sort of in real life)
So now I'm finally settling into Fatherhood I actually have some time to scratch the good old artistic itch again.
One of my favourite things to do is to interpret existing characters in a different style, (check out my Toy Story little green man and Guyver paintings for other examples) so I thought I'd have a go at painting Simon's Cat as he might appear in CG animated form.
He looked strange with white eyes in this style hence the addition of green.
If you haven't done so already, go and check out the Simon's Cat animated shorts at www.simonscat.com.

Robots...
I forgot how fun it was just to doodle a few bionic beings every now and then.
Toned paper and col-erase pencils are my new best friends.

Rhinocerilla...
Another one hour speedy for my Studio's sketch group. This week's topic was 'Hybrid creature', so this guy's meant to be a rhinoceros/gorilla mixture.
